I wrote Ode to Dylan on a “dare” from my attorney a few years back. We’d been discussing how Dylan had been recently awarded the Nobel prize and how he was the first songwriter to receive one. My attorney, who also knows I love a challenging writing assignment, suggested I write a song about Dylan’s refusal to show up in person to accept his award (although he did accept the prize money). The song starts out with my thoughts about Dylan in this situation, then they sort of morph into my thoughts about politics and the American presidential election and on to broader social and environmental issues facing humanity.
I’m basically an acoustic folk singer-songwriter, from California but currently based in the NYC/CT area, who’s been actively writing and performing songs over the past 15 years.
