In this opening track, the ‘soldier’ is the soldier from Bob Marley’s ‘Burning And Lootin’, who has now gone as the war is over, and ‘From the top of Spring Hill below is all still’ – Tel Aviv translated from Hebrew is ‘Spring Hill’. Bob sits in Government Yard and asks a guard, ‘Who is free’? Bob thanks Haile Selassie for his love, ‘Your love is as mighty as a lion’ and ‘Mercy and love shines down from above’ into Bob’s face as Bob recognizes that ‘It’s a long road’ and he ‘must move on, he must be gone’, as the recurring chorus tells us ‘You love I’, ‘You love I’, ‘You love I’ – and is the love from Haile Selassie, considered a prophet on the same level as Jesus Christ, or is the ‘love’ from his fans his admirers or his wife, his children’, all of whom he must leave behind when he inevitably is gone far too early?
