London Town is Bringing Me Down from the album REINCARNATION 420 (for Tuff Gong) by ‘Les Paul’s’ (The Paul’s)
This track is about the writer’s need to get away from the miserable and depressing grey clouds and rain of London and to seek a new life in the sunshine of the Promised Land, Israel. London now, more than ever, is full of foreigners and the streets are full of crime with the police seemingly unable to cope with the street violence and in many parts of London is not safe to go out at night. Just the thought of constant sunshine is enough to take the misery away as the writer prepares to leave the city where he was born for a brighter land and a better life.

London Town Bringing Me Down Lyrics
London Town is bringing me down
I can’t take much more of this town
The sky is grey and full of rain
I can’t breathe in this crowded train

Surrounded by strangers wherever I go
None of them I will ever know
Even my house is not my home
I have never felt so alone

Through the grey clouds I can see the rising sun
Shining for me, calling me on

Must cut the roots of the tree
Must get away, must break free
I just can’t go on like this
I don’t think there’s anything that I’ll miss

London Town where I was born
On one cold grey winter’s morn
How you’ve changed before my eyes
I think my love for you has died

I must leave you now I must go
Far from this cold land of rain and snow
To a place of sun and golden sand
To the ancient Promised Land

Through the grey clouds I see the rising sun
Shining for me, calling me on

Must cut the roots of the tree
Must get away, must break free
I just can’t go on like this
I don’t think there’s anything that I’ll miss

I’ll start afresh I’ll start anew
I’ll live a life meaningful and true
I’ll Pick roses in the snow
By the fallen walls of Jericho

This is where it all began
With just a woman and a man
I’ll start my life all over again
I’ll be far away from the hurt and pain

Through the grey clouds I see the rising sun
Shining for me, calling me on
Through the grey clouds I see the rising sun
Shining for me, calling me on
