Under the Midnight Moon Lyrics
They sat by the silvery river
Under the southern night sky
The chill of the night made them shiver
And he wiped a tear off his eye

In the crystal blue light
Of the moon shining bright
He wished it could last all night long

And I picked my guitar
And I sang about
Moonbeams and shooting stars

Oh how my heart swooned
As I played that old tune
Under the mid-night moon

They walked by the mercury water
Watching the nightly mist fall
It reminds me of a tune by Cole Porter
That I just can’t seem to recall

In the fading blue light
All these words don’t seem right
Made up just as I went along

While I strummed my guitar
And I sang about
Moon beams and shooting stars

Oh how my heart swooned
To that old fashioned tune
Under the mid-night moon

They waltzed ‘neath the platinum moonlight
In time to the minstrel’s sweet song
She turned and asked if he was alright?
Then he knew that something was wrong

Do you love me she asked?
I can see through that mask
Looks like I have been true all along

Then I packed my guitar
And I thought about
Heartbreak and bleeding scars

It ended so soon
Couldn’t finish my tune
Under that midnight moon

I sit here rememb’ring a lover
Under this merciless light
Still hoping I could re-discover
The mood of that long bye gone night

Do I love her I ask?
What a difficult task
But I’m sure that my love won’t be long

And I picked my guitar
And I sang about
Moon beams and shooting stars

Oh how my heart swooned
When I played that old tune
Under the mid-night moon
