In These Modern Times lyrics
These Modern Times
Aren’t what they’re supposed to be
These Modern Times
Are seriously killing me by degrees
I try my best to understand
I really do as far as I can
It wasn’t like this
When it all began
How have we become what we are today
Tell me how can we keep on going this way
In these Modern Times
These Modern Times
Are made for those who take
These Modern Times
Are made for those who want to hate
Tell me are we going forwards towards the light
Or are we going backwards into the night
For self-love is the order of the day
No-one should complain or dare to get in the way
Of these Modern Times
These Modern Times
Are about the greed disease
These Modern Times
Are dark days for the poor in need
People all going nowhere way too fast
Nothing these days is built to last
Love’s become just a four letter word
From your partners lips these words won’t be heard
The wind don’t blow and the bells don’t chime
In these Modern Times
These Modern Times
Are out of control
These Modern Times
Strip away your body and soul
The fires are smoking from the East to the West
I don’t stop hoping nor do I get depressed
Has everyone else gone and lost their minds
Even the poets have forgotten how to rhyme
In These Modern Times
These Modern Times, these Modern Times
I try and understand
As far as I can
It wasn’t like this
When it all began
How have we become what we are today
Tell me how can we keep on going this way
Tell me how can we keep on going this way
In these Modern Times
These Modern Times
